What do you believe about love?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 12, 2007:
it's an unstoppable river. It is moving in and around you and through you whether you agree to be on board or not. whether you float with all the twists and turns and drops and quiet pools it takes you to or whether you fund all your strength to attempt to swim against it, around it or claw your way out onto the banks, it is as mighty a truth as any.
it is as large as air.
it is the thing that sweeps all your millions of shattered pieces up and glues them back together.
it is the thing that walks past and brushes you off that highest shelf, shattering you into millions of pieces.
it is what makes you breathless,
speechless,
awed,
superhumanly strong and capable,
humble,
selfless.
it is the most obvious surprise.
and it surprises you everytime.
it is the unbrakeable train barreling after you.
and you are running,
like a fool.
